What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive skin resurfacing technique that skims away the top layer of skin and fine vellus hair, or peach fuzz. This procedure exfoliates the skin and removes the fine hair that can trap oil and dirt in the follicles. It should also be postponed for people currently taking isotretinoin, a prescription for acne. Those using this medication should stop taking it for 6 months before coming in for dermaplaning.

What Can I Expect From the Dermaplaning Procedure?
The dermaplaning procedure is a fast and easy procedure that utilizes a scalpel and a soft touch to gently rid the skin of any impurities on the upmost layer. The procedure usually lasts around 30 minutes to one hour, and results can be seen immediately. Unlike other resurfacing techniques, the skin does not have to recuperate, and no redness or swelling should occur. Following the procedure, the skin will feel smoother and more refined.
What Is Dermaplaning Aftercare Like?
There is no downtime after dermaplaning. If you experience redness, it will disappear after a few days. You will notice brighter skin once the redness subsides. Make sure to use sunscreen and moisturizer to protect your skin after the treatment.
